CEI Contract
Administrator

Hillsborough County

Administer the District Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) program in accordance with policies, procedures and rules of the Florida Department of Transportation. Coordinates contract changes, funding approvals, and consultant service requests, including Supplemental Agreements and Change Orders. Assists in the procurement of consultant services, developing CEI work programs, Scope of Services, and Cost Estimates. Act as Project Manager on District Construction General Assigned Contracts, issuing work orders, reviewing funding, auditing, processing payments, and resolving issues. Develops and maintains tracking systems for contracts, invoicing, evaluations, while ensuring compliance.

TSM&O Engineer
Freeway

Hillsborough County

Directs and supervises staff and provides advanced engineering and technical guidance for the District Traffic Operations Office Freeway Management System (FMS) area. Meets regularly with employees to establish work, ensure working objectives are met, and evaluates employees’ performance throughout the year and at formal review periods. Plan, direct, organize, track and manage activities associated with the transportation systems management and operations (TSM&O) freeway master plan and plan updates. Responsible for advanced traffic engineering work, specifically in the application of technology to efficiently and effectively operate the State Freeway / Expressway System. Serve as the District’s project leader for the operations of managing lane projects which may include coordinating, directing and guiding staff in the office of Intermodal Systems Development Office (ISD), Design, Construction, Maintenance, Legal, Public Information Office, and others.

FMS/AMS
Engineer

Tampa/Hillsborough County

Manage the District’s freeway and arterial operations program, including contracts, funding plans, and consultant oversight. Oversee corridor control and traffic signal timing plans and coordinate standard operating procedures to achieve freeway operations objectives. Support TSM&O projects, develop project scopes, funding and outreach plans. Coordinate with Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Manager to assist with managing the Road Ranger patrols, incident management efforts, and maintenance of ITS field devices and the RTMC. Work with internal and external partners to manage contracts, resolve project issues, and support statewide TSM&O program development. Review studies and reports, and help shape strategic plans, business plans, and long-range work programs.

Highway Maintenance Technician II (2 Positions Available)

Tampa

Operates machinery and engages in manual labor related to job assignments. Performs pre-trip inspections and minor maintenance on equipment. Assists with rough carpentry, masonry, painting, and/or assembly and installation of highway signs. A valid Class E driver’s license is required. Special requirements include obtaining a Class B commercial driver’s license and certification in Temporary Traffic Control within a specified timeframe.

In order to be eligible for hire into a position requiring a Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL), applicants must register with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Drug and Alcohol (FMCSA) Clearinghouse, as required, for the Department to conduct a pre-employment query.
